Behind closed doors, though, it is quite different. As kids, we walked on eggshells. We never knew what we were going to get when we walked through the door. There was so much yelling. I still cringe when someone raises his or her voice; it makes me physically sick.
For as long as I can remember I have been called an “old soul,” or told I was born in the wrong decade. I have spent countless years listening to bands that I am too young to have ever seen live, and I live by Grateful Dead mottoes as if they are a foundation for my life.
